Year 11 History Revision Trip

Year 11 History students travelled to London on Monday 16th March for a packed and varied revision trip.
The day began in Southwark, where students explored the Clink Prison Museum—one of England’s oldest and most notorious prisons. They then boarded the Golden Hinde for a guided tour of the full‑size reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake’s famous galleon, where they learned about Drake’s circumnavigation and the realities of life at sea in the 16th century.
Their next stop was the Old Operating Theatre and Herb Garret, the oldest surviving operating theatre in Europe. Students examined a fascinating range of medical artefacts and enjoyed a talk on surgical innovation and the early development of modern medicine.
In the afternoon, the group visited the Imperial War Museum, exploring several galleries including Peace and Security: 1945–2014, which directly supported their GCSE learning on the Cold War.
The History Department would like to extend a huge thank‑you to our wonderful students. Their engagement, curiosity, and consistently polite and respectful conduct made them a pleasure to accompany, and their behaviour was praised throughout the day.
