Pupil Premium Information

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) was introduced by the Government in April 2011. The PPG, which is an addition to main school funding, is allocated to schools to work with students who have been registered for Free School Meals in the last six years, also students that have been in the care of the local authority and to children of service personnel.

The Government believes that this targeted funding is the best way to help tackle any underlying disadvantages and inadequacies that exist between this group of students and their peers.

The aim is to raise attainment for disadvantaged students by providing a range of learning opportunities that enable these students to reach their full potential regardless of the circumstances that would otherwise impede their progress.

The PPG has a number of wider aims:

  • To increase mobility
  • To enable more students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access the best further education
  • To reduce the attainment gap between the highest and lowest achieving students nationally

Please get in touch if you think your family may qualify for Pupil Premium or if you need further advice. We can then ensure the school receives the appropriate funding and that we are able to support your son or daughter appropriately.
