Haygrove Debating team at QUMUN

On Saturday a group of thirteen Year 10 students took part in the annual Queens College, Taunton MUN (QUMUN) representing the nations of Syria and Venezuela. They covered a variety of topics from the protecting life under the sea, the issue of global hunger as a result of climate change, the rights of child workers, the regulation of AI used in military capacities, the issue of the war in Ukraine and the global obesity crisis. Our delegates were successful in passing multiple resolutions within these committees and played a vital role in shaping these debates calling upon their skills and experience that they have been working on for months.

Following this, our delegates took part in a General Assembly discussing a hypothetical situation on the role of the internet and how best to block extremist voices whilst preserving freedom of speech. Our delegates again played a key role in this debate and frequently asked vital questions to highlight key areas within the debate.

We are so proud of all of our delegates both for their performance in the debates and how they represented Haygrove School on the day.
