European Day of Languages
There have never been more opportunities to work or study in a different European country - but not being able to understand or speak another
European language prevents many people from taking advantage of them. Our aim is to help our students gain access to a wider range of opportunities by ensuring they are competent in a second language.
Europe is rich in languages - there are over 200 European languages and many more spoken by citizens whose family origin is from other continents. In the Autumn term we celebrate European Day of Languages by encouraging students to take part in an International Bake Off. The funds raised from this go towards supporting our current project with our partner school in Zambia where we are planting trees to develop a more sustainable base from which crops can be grown.
Languages Learning Beyond 3.15!
Friday afternoon sees the department transform into a side street Café as our year 11’s join us for cake and conversation. This voluntary session compliments our P6 provision by offering students an opportunity to get together and practice their spoken French/German/Spanish in an informal setting with their teacher and friends. The focus is very firmly on developing confidence using the language and this has become a firm favourite to end the week!
