To help students prepare for the completion of their GCSEs in the core subjects of English Literature, English Language, Mathematics, Science and Triple Science (Bio, Chem & Phys), each year we hold an event to give advice on revision techiques and exam paper content.
COVID-19 restrictions mean that this year, this event will be a virtual one with video content for parents and students to view and listen to.
However, perhaps more importantly, the final decision on whether any form of formal end of course testing will take place has not yet been made by the Government. Whilst we await the outcome of the recent consultation on summer 2021 exams, we do not know whether exams will be compulsory or what format they make take.
What can I do to ensure the best outcome?
Our recommendation is that students continue to engage with lessons and complete all work set by their teachers as it may be needed to form part of their GCSE assessment.
In addition, students should begin revising for exams. We are expecting to hold HSCEs (mock exams) w/c 22 March 2021 which will provide a focus for revision. The HSCEs will provide valuable information for teacher assessed GCSE grading whether or not students will then be expected to take a formal exam in the summer term.
Please view the videos below and if you need further advice, please contact subject teachers or Head of Year.
