Year 7 Enjoy Team Days, Making Friends and Having Fun

Each of our Year 7 tutor groups have spent quality time together away from the classroom so they can get to know their tutor and to help them build friendships with each other. During October and November all Year 7 students have spent a day taking part in team-building activities, some went off to Ranscombe in the Quantock Hills and others to Knowle Hall near Puriton.

The days out had a ‘Building Character’ focus where important character traits, such as resilience, confidence and empathy were considered and then put into action.

‘Despite the rain, the days have been really successful and of great benefit to both our new students and our staff. It gave everyone an opportunity to get to know each other much better” said Mrs Gregg who co-ordinated the activity days.

The students were enthusiastic about the day too. Below are some of their thoughts about what they have experienced:

‘I enjoyed working with different people that I didn't know before.’

‘I enjoyed the time we could all spend together and get to know each other.’

‘I like how we had to trust our partner and guide them left, right forwards e.t.c. and I also Iiked doing the cooking even though it was hard!’

‘It was good spending time with my tutor group and learning survival tips for our school future trips.’

‘I really enjoyed the games that we played and when we made hot chocolate.’

‘I learned how to communicate with others.’
