A group of Year 10 students travelled to Paris at end of the summer term on the school’s annual visit to the French capital. The purpose of the trip is to give students an opportunity to develop their listening & reading skills, help improve their accent as well as test their own speaking skills. Everyone was expected to gather evidence of their progress in the workbooks they had to complete.
Highlights included climbing the Eiffel Tower where they experienced breathtaking views of the city, a boat trip on the river Seine to see Paris from a different viewpoint and admire the city’s many stunning bridges. Students also strolled around Montmartre, visiting the Sacré Coeur Basilica and the famous painters’ quarter. Here they admired the work of impressionist painters at Le Musée d’Orsay, a beautifully restored former train station on the banks of the river Seine. We visited the Carousel du Louvre for a little shopping and to admired its unusual architecture.
France is also well known for it's fantastic cuisine. A delicious 3 course meal was had at the hotel restaurant, in addition to eating lunch at the famous Hard Rock Café. Students also got to experience the variety of French cuisine in Montmartre.
The group also enjoyed a tour of Paris by night, where the highlights were L’arc de Triomphe, Le Moulin Rouge and the Eiffel Tower again from Le Trocadéro as well as the unusual Eglise de la Madeleine.
Students all enjoyed the lovely summer temperatures and the trip was over all too soon.
A huge thank you to all the students and staff involved. It was a first for the vast majority of students and they took full advantage of the opportunity
Bonnes vacances tout le monde!
