On the last week of term, the spotlight shon brightly on our talented students as they came together as a cast to perform, for three consecutive nights, the musical production of "Schools Will Rock You".
Featuring massive hits such as “Another One Bites the Dust”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Killer Queen”, Schools Will Rock You follows two revolutionaries as they try to save Rock in a post-apocalyptic world. Allied with a group of rebels called the "Bohemians", our heroes fight to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden, and rock music is all but unknown...
As those that attended will already know, the show was absolutely phenomenal. The singing, acting and dancing talents of our students never ceases to impress. For some students this would have been their first time ever performing on a big stage, but you would never have guessed! It was fantastic to see so many talented young people getting involved and trying something new. The levels of enthusiasm and support on and off stage were absolutely brilliant.
"Sensational performance!" - Mrs Canham, Headtecher
"The cast this year should be exceptionally proud of what they have produced. They have come together as a company for the first time, working with different students and staff across the school. Their commitment and dedication to creating a show for you to enjoy is highly commendable." - Miss Joseph, Head of Drama
A massive thanks goes to Miss Joseph for her excellent directing as well as Miss Hannaby, Mr Dibble, Miss Powell and Miss Barwell for assisting. Thanks also goes to Miss Powell and Mr Whiteoak for helping with music, Mr Hill for sound/lights, Mr Heath for set design, Mrs Bailey for costumes, Mrs O'Halloran and Mrs Wheeler for refhreshments and also to the many helpful students that assisted on the nights.
We cannot express how proud we are as a school of our young performers as they got up on stage and really gave it their all.
