School Sports Superstars

We celebrated the contribution students have made to school sport over the past year at their recent annual Sports Assembly. The girls and boys who have been involved in the many sporting achievements of the year were invited to attend the special assembly where 87 students were awarded sports colours for representing the school in three or more school teams and a boy and girl from each year group were named ‘Sports Personality of the Year’, receiving a trophy in recognition of the contribution they each had made to the sporting life of the school. In Year 11 the decision for the male sports personality was so difficult it ended up being awarded to six boys rather than just one!

The Under 15 Boys ‘Chance to Shine’ Cricket Team stood out this year for their commitment and achievement, and they were awarded the coveted Team of the Year trophy. The boys attended the Chance to Compete regional finals held at Bristol Grammar School earlier this year where they finished 2nd overall in the South West.

“Haygrove School really values the contribution sport can make to a young person’s life and we are delighted to have been able to recognised so many of our young people for their involvement in sport this year. The Team of the Year winners played exceptionally well at the Chance to Compete finals and were a real credit to the school both on and off the field, and so were worthy winners,” said Mr Gray, Head of PE.
