We are pleased to unveil our brand new minibus! As many of you may be aware, we unfortunately had one of our minibuses stolen when a group of our students and staff were on a trip in March 2019. When the incident happened, we endeavoured to not let it affect the extra-curricular activities we offer our students, and appealed to parents and the wider community for ways we could raise the funds for a new bus.
When the original minibus was stolen, Miss Hannaby who was in charge of fundraising at the time, set up a 'just giving' page. A small number of people, mostly parents, donated towards it and raised around £500. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated through the 'just giving' page.
Around £8,500 was raised through various fundraising activities that go on throughout the school year, such as cake sales and non-school uniform days. This amount has been raised over 5-6 years, and we would like to say thank you to everyone who has played a part in rasing that money.
The Haygrove Friends Association, which has since been disbanded, made a small donation from the funds they had rasied when the group closed down. We would like to thank them for their kind donation.
The final insurance settlement we recieved from the stolen minibus, was just under £9,000, which was also used.
We would also like to say a special thank you to an elderly gentleman who came in to the school one day and donated £100. The reason for his donation was because he was a pupil at the Dr Morgan's all boys school, his children went to Haygrove School and his grandchildren are current students at the school.
The new minibus cost £26,000, and the remaining amount was thanks to Mrs Lee, our Director of Finance and Operations, who managed to source the money through her creative accounting skills.
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated to the cost of this new minibus, we really couldn't have done it without the continued support of our parents and people in the wider community. This minibus will allow us to offer even more extra curricular activities and opportunities than what we do now, and it will be used for a variety of school trips, sports fixtues and school events, with its first outting set to be this weekend for the Trampolining Championships in Kent.
