The view from the rear of the school buildings has changed quite a bit over the past half term. Since the summer holidays Caledonian Modular and their sub-contractors have been preparing the ground for our new school building which should be ready to move into in 2020.
The majority of the new building is of a modular construction and has already been built at Caledonian's factory in Neward. Executive Headteacher Mrs Canham and Business Manager Mrs Lee have visited the premises and already stood in many of the classrooms and offices that will, over the coming months, be carefully transported on huge lorries to Bridgwater.
One section of the building is of tradition steel-frame construction due to the ceiling height required for the larger school spaces such as the main hall. The modular section will be three stories high with the top floor housing eight purpose-built science labs and a prep-room. The new school will also contain a mirrored-wall activity studio, a drama studio and a dedicated dining hall. The main hall will house bleecher seating controlled by the press of a button. Haygrove students will no longer have to stay behine after assembly to stack the chairs away neatly!
Outside, new tennis courts will be sited at the front of the building with a new access path leading up to the main entrance alongside. At the back, the exisitng rugby pitches and hockey surface will remain and be complimented by a new athletics track and football pitch.
