In order to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, students of all ages across the school have been taking part in a 5-a-side charity football tournament. After paying an entry fee, the teams were split into different leagues and then came together every lunchtime to play. In total there were 6 boys teams from KS3, 6 boys teams from KS4 and 5 girls teams across all ages. The turn out at every match was absolutely brilliant, creating a real buzz around the school. The tournament was brought to a climatic end as students cheered on the winning teams that played against a staff team.
The KS3 final was won by Punjab Utd, who beat Petr Cech Yourself
The Girls final was won by Show Me the Mane who beat Dead Birds
The KS4 final was won by Roma$, who beat PiqueBblinders
As well as entrance fees, money was raised through multiple cake and ice cream sales. In total, a whopping £340 has been raised so far, with still more to come in and be counted!
"The football has been a great showcase of the sporting talent that we have at Haygrove. It has been fantastic to see so many people be involved in what has been a fantastic event, and we have raised a terrific amount of money for such a great cause. A huge thank you to all those that came to help, and to all those who came to support. It can’t be easy at this time of year. I’m staggered by people’s generosity. The Teenage Cancer Trust provide a lot of things for the wards to make life more bearable for the kids going through cancer as well as providing good info packs and support aimed at teens." - Mr Lall
Many thanks to everyone that participated and helped to raise money for this amazing cause and well done to our winners!
