Over 60 students celebrated achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards this year. Although the presentation was different to our annual presentation evening to accommodate COVID-19 regulations, the event was all about the students who have done so well in exceptional circumstances. The event was hosted by our Outdoor Education Coordinator, Mrs Cath Clark, Head of Year 10, Mr Hellyer and Head Teacher, Mr Reid.
Mrs Clark reminded the assembled youngsters of some of the challenges they had faced over the past months whilst completing all three sections of their Award: learning a new skill, volunteering and taking part in a weekend trek that included camping overnight on Exmoor, all during the most challenging times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Year 10 student Charlie, played a beautiful piece on the piano, where Mrs Clark told students to remember this moment when Charlie is playing in the Royal Albert Hall..! The students were then awarded their certificates and badges one group at a time, socially distanced from the teachers. Although the awards ceremony couldn't be celebrated with friends and family, we hope you will enjoy seeing the photos from the event.
