Last week a group of Year 8 students took part in an exciting and engaging STEM Discovery Day run by visitors from EDF.
The challenge was to build a egg-carrying vehicle powered by compressed air, launch it and protect the egg from breaking on landing. Students had to consider aspects such as aerodynamics, weight distribution, crumple zones and safety. Furthermore, cost effectiveness was also assessed so items such as tape, cardboard and wheels had to be purchased - incorperating useful maths and budgeting skills.
Overall, Team 6 and Team 1 topped the table for distance travelled and best presesntation respectively! Well done to everyone and a massive thank you EDF Energy for coming to inspire us on the day.
