Year 8 student Ella, was watching TV one night when the Stand Up to Cancer celebrity Bake off was advertised. With her love of baking, Ella took no time at all to decide she too wanted to raise money for Stand Up to Cancer through baking.
Afternoon tea is a firm favourite for Ella, so she decided she would make a mixture of plain and fruit scones, along with the clotted cream and jam, and advertise her baking fundraiser to people in the surrounding villages. Ella’s mum advertised on Facebook to people in Nether Stowey, Cannington and Stogursey, which was followed by high demand for Ella’s sweet treats.
Ella baked 40 plain scones and 46 fruit scones, and on Saturday afternoon, delivered her afternoon tea bag to everyone who ordered one. Ella did not set a price for her afternoon tea, but instead asked for donations, where she received an amazing £320 (including gift aid) for Stand Up to Cancer! Great job Ella!
When asked if she received any feedback, Ella said: “Yes, people loved it and said they wished they ordered more”. That’s the best feedback you could get, and I must say they do look yummy! Perhaps we will see Ella on the junior bake off soon?! Watch this space!
