Students from all year groups have spent the last few weeks bringing chocolate advent calendars into school to donate to Bridgwater Foodbank so that local families in crisis can have a little piece of Christmas added to the food basics they can get from this local charity.
A total of 260 calendars were donated; each tutor group was tasked with giving a minimum of five. Year 7 student Archie Peacock, whose mum secured 48 calendars from a local Tesco store, said, “It’s good that everyone has made donations so that people in need can have a treat each day leading to Christmas.” His friend, Ollie Coles also commented, “I am glad that lots of local people who maybe don’t have much can have a calendar this year.”
The collection was organised by school counsellor and history teacher, Miss Sarah Smith. “We started doing this last year and it is something that the children can readily get involved with.Their donations will make a difference to some of our most inneed local families."
