Imagine a week where culture comes to life and hidden talents are discovered. Where students collaborate on projects beyond classrooms and expand their horizons. Where creativity is key and imaginations run riot.
Every July, the usual school curriculum is put on hold for a week and students take part in our International Arts Week.
Conceived as a way of enabling students in Years 7, 8 and 9 to explore different cultures and expand their horizons, the annual event includes all sorts of exciting challenges and activities based on the themes of art and internationalism.
This year students could choose from over 40 activities and trips including International Dance, an international-themed Come Dine With Me, The Great Haygrove Bake-off, Futzal and Softball, a Eurovision Song Contest, a Poetry Slam, Comic Book Creations and crafts such as weaving, knitting, steam-bending and mosaics.
Off-site visits to Plymouth City Museum, the Roman Baths in Bath and Steart Marshes are available alongside surfing and eco-awareness on the North Devon coast and a trip to the trampolining centre, Airhop, near Bristol.
"International Arts Week enables our students to experience a whole week of enriching activities that we hope will broaden their cultural horizons and inspire them to see themselves as part of a global community."
Mrs Collinge, Director of International Studies
