Information for prospective parents

We are delighted you are considering our school for your child. Haygrove is an excellent secondary school where pupils make good progress and achieve outstanding examination results.

If your enquiry is urgent, please telephone the School Reception during school hours to leave a message for a member of staff who will call you back within 2 school days. You can also telephone the school to make an appointment to meet with a Head of Year.
If you prefer, you can use this online form to contact your child's Head of Year - you will usually receive a response to your online enquiry within 3 school days. Please direct all general school enquiries that do not relate to a student at Haygrove School to the School Receptionist.

Access onto the school site
Please note that parents should not to drive onto the school site to drop off or collect children. If you do require access to the site during school hours, please seek permission from the Headteacher in advance.
We have limited parking available at the school if you are visiting.
Haygrove School is a small site and we do not wish to compromise the safety of those who work and study here. Your cooperation in this respect is much appreciated.

Haygrove School is an Academy school and as such the Governing Body is the admissions authority for the school.

At present, our annual Student Admission Number is 214 students.

Year 6 to Year 7 transition 2019 admissions

All applications for admission, must be submitted to your home Local Authority by the closing date and will be considered under the Equal Preference with Ranking system of allocation.

The Local Authority will forward all applications to the school and the Governing Body will rank them against the oversubscription criteria set out in our Admissions Policy (2019-2020). For 2020-2021 admissions, please see the Admissions Policy 2020-2021.

This list will then be returned to the Local Authority under the coordinated admissions scheme and they will make a single offer of a place by email and letters, usually in early March.

The closing date for starting school applications is 23:59 hours on 31 October 2018. 

You can apply online or using a paper application. 

PLEASE NOTE: Somerset County Council will not be issuing any reminder letters to parents regarding the closing date for secondary school applications. Haygrove School will, however, post reminders on this website and social media. Visit our Facebook page here.

If you applied online you will receive an email on 1 March 2019 (or the next working day if this is a weekend or bank holiday) and if you applied using a paper application form you will be sent a letter by second class post on the same day. Information will not be given out over the phone or in person at the Council offices. 

From 1 March you can view the outcome of your application by logging into the online application system here.

If you submit your application after the 31 October 2018 your notification will be delayed.

  • Applications recieved by 24 March 2019 will be notified w/c 30 April - 4 May 2019. 
  • Applications recieved after 24 March will be processed in strict date order.

Any objections to the admissions policy made can be made to the Office of the School’s Adjudicator. For further information on how to make an objection please visit their website or phone the office on 01325 735303.

We are always pleased to meet prospective parents and students.

We hold three Open Mornings and an Open Evening in the Autumn Term, when you and your family can come and see our school in action and talk to the Headteacher and staff.
