Year 11 students travelled to Paris at the end of the summer term on the school’s annual study visit for the students studying GCSE French. The purpose of the trip was to give them an opportunity to develop their listening skills, help improve their accent and to test out their own speaking skills.
Upon arrival, the students firstly went to the Eiffel Tower where they experienced breathtaking views of the city. A boat trip on the river Seine meant that students could see Paris from a completely different point of view. They then visited Notre Dame cathedral, making sure that they stopped at Paris Point Zéro, a geographical marker at the very centre of Paris, from which distances to other places in France are measured. In addition, the students strolled around Montmartre, visiting the Basilica and the famous painter’s quarter.
Lunch was had at the Hard Rock Café s and dinner was eaten in the Louvre area of Paris, getting a taste of the delicious French cuisine. This was followed by a tour of Paris by night where the students saw the Champs Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower again, which everyone agreed that the most beautiful sight due to its wonderful illuminated light show.
Students all enjoyed the lovely summer temperatures of Paris and as ever the trip was over all too soon.
A huge thankyou to all of the students and staff that were involved. We hope that everyone had a brilliant time.
