On Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 April, our staff and students came together to bring to life the sights and sounds of The Arabian Nights. Our students from Years 7 and 8 had been rehearsing since January to create this collection of six mini plays, narrated by the new Queen, Shahrazad. Her job was to keep the King, Shahrayar, entertained for as long as possible to avoid being beheaded, hence the 1001 Nights.
It wasn't just the Year 7 and 8's performing: our new Tech Team had their first outing as well, comprising boys and girls from the same year groups controlling the lighting and sound. Of course, the help of the staff didn't go unnoticed: Mrs Thompson, the school librarian was in charge of the colourful and inspiring costumes (and with special thanks to Westover Green School); Miss Archer helped organise the troupe of dancers; and Mrs Guppy and Ms Jonson were responsible for weeks of gentle nagging to get the whole thing off the ground.
Our Headteacher, Mrs Canham, thoroughly enjoyed the performance as did many parents, colleagues and friends: an exciting and memorable performance.
